A Smarter Way to Sense the Sun 🌞

Get the Benefits of the Sun Without the Burn

Real-Time Feedback So You Can Dose the Sun Intelligently

SunSense bracelets give you instant, visual feedback on the strength and type of sunlight you're getting. The beads shift from white to deep colors in response to UV intensity — so you’ll know when UV is present, how strong it is, and when it drops off completely.

This means you can stop guessing and start working with the sun instead of avoiding it or overdoing it. Whether you're in the shade, underwater, inside by a window, or in full sun, your beads will tell you what kind of light you're getting.

What SunSense UV Can Help You With:

âś… Knowing when your body can actually make vitamin D
âś… Avoiding burning by recognizing when UV gets too strong
âś… Seeing when you're still getting UV even in the shade or on cloudy days
âś… Building sun tolerance gradually with awareness, not guesswork
✅ Reducing dependency on toxic sunscreens or even mineral sunscreens (which all block vitamin D)
âś… Identifying when healing infrared light is available (& when UV is gone)
âś… Teaching your kids how to enjoy the sun safely
âś… Supporting better blood sugar, sleep, hormone health, and circadian rhythm by using sunlight intentionally

How to Use Your SunSense Beads to Follow the 5-Step Safe Sun Method

The UV beads in your bracelet or lizard aren’t just for show! They’re tools to help you follow my 5-Step Safe Sun Method as outlined in my course Get That D. This method teaches you how to build a healthy solar callus (base tan), make vitamin D safely, and support your skin’s healing and natural repair processes by exposing yourself to specific light throughout the day.

Here’s how to use the beads as your guide:

Sunrise: Infrared Light to Prep the Skin

Start your day outside at or just before sunrise. This is the single most important strategy for your health and circadian rhythm.

The sun at this time is very rich in healing infrared and red wavelengths (though it may not look very "red" outside).

Your beads will stay white during this time, which means there’s no UV light present (just infrared light.)

Infrared helps prep your skin for the UV coming later in the day. It’s soothing, healing, and deeply supportive for your mitochondria and metabolism.

When your bracelet is white, it’s a reminder that you can’t burn, tan, or make vitamin D, but you’re still getting powerful light therapy.

UVA Light to Start Building Pigment

As the sun rises, your beads will start to change color slightly. This means UVA light is present.
UVA is the gentler form of UV. It begins to build melanin, the pigment in your skin that acts like internal sunscreen.
This is the best time for lighter-skinned people to start building sun tolerance without overexposing.
The key here, if you have lighter skin, is to build pigment when the beads are pale in direct sunlight before you get into direct sunlight when the beads are very dark.

UVB Light to Stimulate Vitamin D Production

As your beads get darker, that’s your signal that UVB is now present. This is the light that triggers vitamin D production in the skin.

Darker beads mean stronger UV. This is great for D, but also the time to be more intentional if you have paler skin.

If your beads are getting very dark and you’ve been outside for a while, this is your cue to seek shade or put on a shirt if you feel you're becoming over-exposed.

You’ll see the beads lighten again in the shade, letting you know you’ve dropped back into a lower UV zone. This strategy can reduce sunscreen usage!

The darker your skin, the more time you need in this intense light to create Vitamin D!

Sunset: Infrared Light to Heal and Repair

Later in the day, UV tapers off and your beads go back to white.
That means no UV, but plenty of infrared which is the light that helps rebuild collagen, soothe sun-exposed skin, and reduce inflammation.
Evening sun is like a free infrared light therapy session. If you overdid it during the day, this is the time to get back outside, let your body repair, and support natural skin recovery.

Darkness: Support Melatonin and Overnight Repair

After the sun sets, your bracelet won’t glow, but your lizard will.
The glow-in-the-dark beads are a reminder that darkness is the final step in sun healing.
Once the sun is gone, keep your lights dim and block blue light. Sleep in a pitch-black room. This is how your body makes melatonin, your strongest antioxidant, which drives almost all the repair processes in your body (including your skin!).
The glow of the lizard at night is your cue: you don’t get the glow without the dark.
